She is the most well known citizen of Iceland: Lucia Celeste Sierra Molina. As you can imagine, she is not originary from the deep south of Iceland. She was from Guatemala before to get the icelandic "citizenship express". A few facts of her personality:

- she did not fulfilled all the requirements to get the icelandic citizenship,

- she said she was dating an icelandic boy,

- this guy was the son of the former Environmental Minister (Mrs. Jonina Bjarmartz),

- a Parlamentary Commission studied her application and she was granted with the icelandic citizenship.

- The former Ministry denied any kind of responsability in the scandal and she did not resign from her position.

The consequences: Lucia was actively helping the political party of her "mother in law" (Framsóknarflokkurinn)during the elections of the past may 2007. The former Ministry was not elected again after the elections, but Lucia gained the icelandic citizenship and now in Iceland the people barely can remember her name.

It is said that there are no corruption in Iceland. Of course there are, and perhaps is one of the most corrupted countries in the world at all levels. In a country of 300.000 people where everybody has a close relation (by family roots or by frienship), the corruption is so obvious that nobody complaints. Icelandic politicians involved in scandals of corruption instead of resign of their position accuse the journalists for bring to the press the scandals.

"Heima er best" (home is the best) reads the most common sentence in almost all icelandic homes.
